Reflections in Glass 1999
Exhibition Reflects Contemporary Glass Movement Glasswork created by 27 Ohio artists will be on display at the Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery November 5 through January 9, 1999. Curated by Henry Halem, internationally known glass artist and professoremeritus at Kent State University,Ohio Perspectives: Reflections in Glasspresents 57 works expressing traditional points of view and exploring contemporary insights into the art of glass. The exhibition, organized by the Ohio Arts Council and the Akron Art Museum. Exhibition travels to Akron Art Museum opening January 9, 1999.
Artist bio from Reflections in Glass
Marianne Hite, born in 1962, earned a BFA at Kent State University where she studied stained glass and other glass techniques. She lives in Uniontown and operates a studio in Green. Hite gives an insight into her thinking when she says "I love working with glass because I feel as though I'm painting with light as well as with color. Currently I'm working on figurative pieces ranging from small maquettes to life-size figures."
